About the Opportunity 

Parker Huggett has partnered with a reputable mid sized ICI General contractor to find an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead their health and safety program in Ottawa.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, promote, implement and maintain H&S policies and procedures in compliance with IHSA COR standards and relevant regulations
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites, facilities, and equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Provide training and education to employees and subcontractors on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and hazard recognition, ensuring full compliance with standard regulations
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to develop site-specific safety plans and risk assessments
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance activities to meet IHSA COR documentation standards
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, clients, and stakeholders on health, safety, security, and environmental matters
  • Stay updated on changes in safety regulations, industry trends, and technologies to enhance HSSE practices within the organization while aligning with COR guidelines
  • Cultivate a culture of safety and accountability by promoting awareness, communication, and participation in HSSE initiatives at all levels of the organization
  • Collaborate with management to establish HSSE performance objectives and monitor progress towards achieving organizational goals, with COR compliance as a priority
  • Supervise and guide a team of Health and Safety Coordinators, providing direction, support, and mentorship to ensure effective execution of their duties
  • Lead and oversee the process of obtaining COR 2020 for the organization, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • 5-10 years in ICI construction leading and executing a health and safety program.
  • NCSO is Required
  • COR Certified Internal Auditor
  • First Aid Certification
