About the Opportunity 

Parker Huggett is recruiting again for a trusted partner – a Canadian owned General Contractor with a longstanding reputation of excellence in the delivery of Industrial, Commercial, Institutional and Residential Projects.

Their strong Construction Management capabilities and their ability to self-perform certain segments have made them one of Canada’s most sought-after mid-sized Construction Management Firms. Today, their name is synonymous with quality, and the number of repeat clients they routinely build for is a testament to their reputation, technical knowledge and corporate ethics.

Now their Greater Toronto Area General team is seeking a Proposal Manager to work closely with the senior management teams and operations within regional offices in developing and submitting proposals, leading marketing strategies and supporting business growth initiatives.

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Leading the end-to-end process for proposal development including coordination, planning, improvement, and creation
  • Defining and managing the proposal response plan, and internal communications associated with the proposal development
  • Actively leading proposal strategy meetings
  • Leading brand control and communications within all regions
  • Contributing and collaborating on national communications efforts, content and strategy
  • Participating in leadership meetings and offering strategic input from marketing and communications perspective
  • Managing and reviewing sites for prospective jobs and bid opportunities
  • Translating company vision by providing advice and mentoring to direct reports
  • Planning and delivering communication and social media strategies
  • Overseeing and managing performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Developing and submitting annual spending budget for advertising and marketing
  • Assessing promotional opportunities for risks and return on investment
  • Conducting market research on opportunities and supporting business development efforts
  • Managing, planning, and informing team on proposal development and prequalification’s for projects
  • Communicating with media and industry organizations for events and company milestones
  • Collaborating with management and operations teams during RFI/RFP to manage and maintain the bid schedule, develop content and source material for submissions
  • Supporting efforts to monitor submissions against proposal best practices and industry standards
  • Collection of data on client and projects schedules

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or similar discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the Construction industry, Architecture or Engineering services 
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with Vendor record service agreements
  • Business development experience within the Construction industry
  • Professional technical writing experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe InDesign – AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Creative Suite and Photoshop
  • Experience with developing, scheduling, and managing proposals in construction; professional services will be considered an asset
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional business acumen and professional attitude
  • Experience in a team-oriented environment
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within a fast-paced environment and operate within tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Understanding of CCDC Documents will be an asset
  • Proficient understanding and use of social posting platforms and software

About the Job

  • This is a full time, permanent job offering competitive pay and benefits
  • Regular working hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, excluding statutory holidays
  • Travel may be required to regional offices and clients, based on business needs
  • Able to work remotely 1 day during the week
