About the Opportunity
Most GCs treat estimating as a bid factory: packages in, numbers out, deadline Friday. This client built its reputation the other way around. Pre-construction is a service its clients pay for, and value engineering during design is where the firm earns its next project. With signed ICI work landing in the GTA and more behind it, they need an estimator who wants to be part of that conversation, not downstream of it.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Conceptual budgets through hard bid on commercial, institutional, and light industrial work in the GTA and surrounding Ontario markets
- Value engineering during design, working directly with clients and consultants; your input lands before drawings are frozen, not after
- A voice in go/no-go decisions on pursuits, not just a deadline on the ones already chosen
- Direct access to senior leadership; no layers between your number and the person who signs off on it
- Full ownership of your estimates, from takeoff through subcontractor scope review to close
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- You’ve priced ICI work in Ontario where your number was the number; when the job went sideways, people came back to your estimate and it held
- You’ve sat in a design meeting and changed a budget with a constructability suggestion, not just recorded the outcome
- You’re a builder at heart who ended up behind a screen, and you still think like one
- You’d rather bid fewer jobs and win more of them
About the Job
- A seat at the pursuit table. Client conversations, design-stage input, pursuit selection; you’re in the room
- Hybrid work, structured around output. Nobody here counts your hours in a chair; they count what you closed
- A culture that runs on trust: adults who get results, celebrate the wins properly, and skip the office politics entirely
- A growing GTA operation where the estimating function is still being shaped, which means your habits become the standard
- A competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $160,000
This search is being run in confidence; the client’s name is shared in conversation, not in print.
